Shiftlock interlock

Shiftlock on the BMW automatic transmission makes sure that, for reasons of safety, the selector lever can only be moved from N or P to a drive gear when the driver presses down the brake pedal.

Shiftlock interlock

Interlock is an additional function: it makes it impossible for the driver to withdraw the ignition key without having set the selector lever to position P, again in the interest of extra safety.
